  • Easiest way to transfer licenses

I'm setting up a VEPro network with 3 machines, and it seems like I may need to occasionally move a library license from one machine to another. Here are some examples:

    1. If my DAW is heavily loaded on a project, I may want to move a library onto one of the servers. But on another project there may be a heavy load on the server, so I'll need that extra library on the DAW.
    2. When I travel with a laptop, I usually just work on one small project, but it may use any combination of the libraries in the network.
    3. When I travel for a whole summer, I may bring one of the servers along, but will need to divide the libraries between the laptop and server in a very different way than in the 3-machine network.

What's the easiest way to coordinate the licenses? The eLicenser transfer process is quick, but I'm concerned it may not be reliable enough to use frequently--people are saying there's no way to get a fresh license if the software trashes one during a transfer (or any other procedure). Alternatively, I could put each license on a separate key and use a big USB hub, but that's really a hassle. Let me know if anyone has a recommendation.

  • Hi Byron,

I´d use the eLicenser license transfer. We´re doing that all the time, and there´s no problem with new eLicensers (older keys don´t have the same storage capacity).

In case anything doesn´t work, we can always help you out!

    Best,
    Paul
