    Hi Vienna,

I m seriously considering to buy a solo strings collection... why not to start with the SE version? But my point is:

How much will cost the update to a standard version if I need a more detailled library??? I found this on the site but it is not clear for me

    Improved Upgrade Discount Structure

You receive discounts when you upgrade from the Vienna Special Editions to the Standard Libraries of Single Instruments and Vienna Instruments Collections. The Special Edition PLUS Volumes will yield discounts when upgrading towards Extended Libraries.

What does discounts really means? Will I save the full first investment?

    Many thanks

  • Hello Philippe,

The samples you have already licensed with your Special Editions will be taken into account when upgrading to the bigger VI Collections.

As the license itself is also part of the product price, and the Orchestral Strings are also included with SE Strings Volume 1, you won´t receive the full price you paid for the Special Edition Volume 1 Strings when you upgrade.
Right now, upgrading from Special Edition Volume 1 Strings to the Solo Strings Standard Library will give you a discount of 28 €.

Once you registered a product, you will always see "Your Price" that shows the discounts you can get.

The "i" Info button next to "Your Price" shows the details of the discounted price.

As there are so many possibilities to upgrade, the best idea is to contact sales@vsl.co.at if you have a specific question.

    Best,

  • I like to give a heads up that if you buy Special Edition Plus you get few new samples when buying the standard versions. Standard editions seem to be whole tone sampled (just as SE) and contains the same amount of velocity layers. I bought the triple horn standard library withouth realising this (having SE+ meant this gave me one or two flavor patches) so I had to buy the full version so as not having wasted the money on the standard version completely. I am not sure if this applies to the strings as well but it's worth thinking of. With is in mind it makes sense that the SE+ gives discount on the full versions. I also like to add that the full versions are light years better than the standard versions with all the different samples and velocity layers and I didn't regret getting that full version of the triple horn. If you are 100% sure you only need the solo strings it's almost pointless buying the SE, in my opinion. The discounts are more for expanding what you have without spending money on content they already had.
