  • Updated: Excel Expression-Map Builder

    Fellow VSL Users,

I made an excel Expression Map builder to make maps easier/faster to make. This is a Cubase topic, but given that Ex. Maps appeal to some VSL users, I thought I'd share it here also. VSL already provides maps, although I make my own.

EDIT: This newer version is simpler and supports additional output options (almost 100% functionality now).

Google Drive URL (requires MS Excel to use)

    Cheers!

An older version I previously posted is here.

  • hey thanks a million.  This is a great idea.  However, I'm getting an xml error in the copied file.  It says the InstrumentMap tag ends prematurely.  And, when opening in Cubase, it loads but without any articulations listed.

  • jmcecil,

Sorry! I ran into some issues also. I've fixed some but I'm going to test it a bit more. Some of my libraries don't use all the expression map settings so I got a little lazy in testing it.

In a newer version I'm also making a macro, so you can put various maps in the same file, and the macro will split them out and save the maps. Once it's all done it will be great. I just should have done some tweaking before posting it. I'll let you know once I have a newer version.

  • I appreciate your efforts.  If there is something I can do to help troubleshoot I'm more than happy to assist.  This utility would be a major help.

  • jmcecil,

Thanks! I appreciate the offer. I started from scratch to make a more flexible version. I initially created it with only a couple needs in mind. The new version will allow you to make a map with any settings whatsoever. I've finished most of it already but I'm fine-tuning a few last things. the new file is also very easy to read and follow. Once I'm done I'll upload it so you can test it out. Testing it will be the best help actually. :)

This new version is miles ahead of the last file in terms of how useful it will be.  Bwa ha ha ha!!!!

    jmcecil,

Hey, I updated the link above with a newer version. I have a macro mostly ready to automate the entire file, so I'll upload a 3rd version later. But for now, I wanted to let you know I have a new version done. ðŸ˜ƒ
