  • (SOLVED) Set-up and networking problem

Hi there! I am runnning VE Pro Servers 64bit on two slave machines (Mac and PC) and Ve Pro 5 plugin on Master PC. My DAW is CUBASE 8 Pro.

Problem is that when I open the VE Pro plugin from the DAW it only lists the localhost instances and the Slave PC instances. Does not show the MAC Slave on the list. I have all three computers set-up with static IPs and same default getaway and same DNS server IP value. If I hardtype the macs ip into the plugin it connect (thou takes about a minute), sometimes it doesn't. It is soo random I don't know how to troubleshoot it.

So my question is to you guys, if you are slaving a mac and mastering on PC, what is the proper way to set-up the network connection? Also maybe is worth mentioning, I have two Gigabit Ethernet Ports on my Master PC motherboard. Hence I am connection the two slaves thru those two ports. (not using a switch or a router)

Thank you in advance for any help or intake. Feel free to share your experiences here!

    Tim

  • set up your slave with DHCP and note down the adresses

Move back to Fix IP and put back the adresses noted

    Tell me is that works

  • I tried doing that, but it still not shows on the list.

I use 192.168.2.15 Static IP on slave MAC.

    subnet ask 255.255.255.0

DNS server is my Master's IP which is 192.168.2.1

Are there any more values to be put in?? Like "WINS" or "DEFAULT GETAWAY" ?\

    Appreciate the help =)

  • Hi Tim,

You don´t need any other values than the network address (192.168.2.x) and the subnet mask 255.255.255.0, you should leave all other fields blank.

If there is no firewall inbetween, that should work just fine. If not, please contact me directly at support@vsl.co.at and include some screenshots of your network settings on both PC and Mac, and let me know about any additional AV programs/firewalls.

    No need to put DNS

What value did you get setting the slave to DHCP ?

  • Thanks for the reply guys.

It was the subnet mask for me, I put 255.255.0.0 instead of 255.255.255.0 and now its all working fine. Thank you for the help
