  • No vst3 plugins

    Hi Gang,

VEPro is not reading any vst3 plugs on my Slave machine. I've checked my paths. Ther isn't much else to do. It's just not reading them.

    Any suggestions?

  • VEP doesn't work with VST3 plugs. Only VST2

Isn't that what VSL claims in the brochure?😔

  • I've no idea what it says in the brochure. There is a VST3 connector from the sequencer, so maybe that's what it says.

  • Yeah, that's probably what they meant. Oh well, maybe in a future upgrade. Anyway, thanks DG. You saved me from bagging my head against the wall trying to figure this out.

  • The latest version of Adobe Audition doesn't like some of my VST3 plugins and therefore, I have to use the VST2 versions: I wish this could all be resolved...

  •

The host plugin (in your DAW) is VST3. The slave software cannot load VST3 plugins. This is a shame because almost all plugins are VST3 nowadays. When you use a slave on your DAW system, like I do, you have to install both VST2 and 3 versions of your plugin otherwise nothing will show up in the VEP5 slave. I don't understand why Vienna doesn't implement VST3 support in their slave software. Shouldn't be that much work...

  • VE Pro is primarily a sample player host, and there are no VST3 sample players available yet, other than Halion (I think). Until that happens, I don't really see the point, unless it could host both VST2 and VST3 sample players at the same time.

  • Primarly for sample players? What about people, like me, who use VEP5 to offload VST/i ASIO performance to a slave host? I run all of my VSTi's and CPU heavy insert VST's on slaves. I'm not sure, but I don't think I'm the only one who wants to get the most out of it. Especialy in respect to ASIO performance. Offloading ASIO performance is the main reason I use VEP5. This way I reserve all my (Cubase) ASIO performance for the mixing stage.

Why woukd you only use sample players in VEP5? I'm quit shure NI Kontakt and Battery do have VST3 versions...

Certainly not Kontakt. I don't know anything about Battery.

  • I see, NI users have the same problem:

    https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/please-add-vst3-thank-you.197789/

Arguments like 'original designed for sample players' and 'mainly used for sample players' doesn't sound verry strong to me. It sounds like a disability to progress. Maybe because there is afaik no alternative for VEP5's functionality.

Don't get me wrong: I like VEP5 a lot and can't do without it. The only thing that botters me is that the selection of plugins could be much more user friendly as we can see in Cubase 8 nowadays (search field and a plugin manager to create user subsets of plugins, ordered the way you like).

In the mean time I'm looking for a VST container solution like Blue Cat Patchwork. But they also don't support VST3 and don't have a more advanced plugin selection solution. DDMF Metaplugin does have VST3 support but on first look no advanced plugin selection. So maybe it's not possible what I'm looking for.... ;-)

  • Just testing NYRV Systems Agent, it takes VST3, Instruments and Effects, okay: looks like it could be of use!?

  • Looks promessing: "You and right click on the “Plugins” folder to find sort options. Plugins can be sorted by Manufacturer, Alphabetically, by Category, by Plugin Format, or in the same way your tier your plugin folders in your system. Additionally, you can search for plugins using the search bar at the bottom of the browser." I don't think it loads VSTi but there much less then VST's. How portable are the created configs? Is it as easy as copying a file to another DAW? Regards, Martijn

  • May have looked promising, but is crashing Cubase Pro 8 and VEP, seperately and won't let Cubase load, after loading it to VEP! Thought it might be new Windows 7 updates, but took out Agent and no more crashes, also tried free CM version and same occurs with that, plus they both take ages to load. I have passed this on to Nyrv, so may be an update will appear soon... PS: New version of Agent doesn't crash, but will not take VST3 plugins in non VST3 environment: VEP!
