  • Migrate from PC to MAC

    Good evening,

I am looking for the possibilities to migrate to an iMac 27". Questions:

    1. should I redownload the libs I already have and install them again
    2. i think I will have to download the various software elements again, like Vienna Ensemble, VI pro, Directory manager, etc. but now for Mac
    3. should I ask for new licenses or is the transition free (meaning, license keys are also valid for the Mac when migrated)
    4. if any other considerations are valid, please tell me.

    Greetings,

    Raymond

  • 1. No

    2. Yes. Don't forget eLicenser.

    3. The licenses are on the USB key. Just plug it into the new system.

  • 4. If you are using 3rd party plugs or sample libraries in VE Pro, none of them will work. You will need to save copious Presets and build them again from scratch.

  • I don't have VE Pro yet. Using VE with Altiverb as the sole plugin. Other plugins are called for in SONAR.
I know I must switch to the Mac version of Altiverb 7.
I also knwo I have to buy another DAW, maybe Digital Performer.

  • It sounds like you're getting rid of your PC altogether.  However if you're not you could probably still use Sonar to drive the samples, etc. on your new mac over a gigabit network connection.

  • Useful hint, thanks.
