When I play the same note several times using the legato patch on the Bb clarinet, the sound seems to become distorted. Any idea what is happing here? It sounds like this:

The first two notes sound normal but all notes after sound like they are fading. The instrument sounds normal if I use the sustain patch or if the tempo is slow.

Seems like we couldnĀ“t find a better repeated note to the Performance Legato.
ThereĀ“s only one option when playing the Performance Legato, as this articulation is designed to connect different notes. Of course you can always switch to the sustained notes as well (best with Slot Xfade after the note transition).
I see that you have registered the Special Editions Vol 1-4, which do not contain Performance Repetitions, but you will get specifically recorded Performance Repetitions in the SE Vol 1&2 PLUS collections, and these are designed to play repeated notes in staccato/spiccato and legato.

Shouldn't the legato patch loop the same sample over again for repeated notes? The last two notes in the file I uploaded do not sound like the first two samples(In fact, it sounds like the velocity is being lowered while the note is playing). Other instruments do not do this when you repeat the same notes in the legato patch. They repeat the same sample.
Well, the legato-sus patch sounds the same as the legato patch in this case. I can get by using with crossfading into the sustain patch though. I was just wondering if there is a bug in the clarinet samples or VI. It seems strange that repeated notes in the legato patches work fine with all instruments but this one.
