  • Chamber Strings: Emphasizing The Ends of Long Notes?

    Possibly 'noob' but...

Is there a way to add a cresc. -emphasis- to the end of a long note. If that isn't clear I guess I can scan in some notes but I think you know what I mean...

You have a long string note and put a hair pin at the very end. The players not only make that last bit louder but it has a nice 'chiff' to the end of the note. It just happens automatically.

Maybe I missed something, but I've never noticed this ability in CS.

(What I do now is automate the Expression... it's a PITA and not all that realistic, but it kinda/sorta works.)

Is there a faster/more realisticr way?  (I guess I was hoping for a 'reverse fp' articulation. :D )

    TIA!

  • Raise the level of the Velocity xFade right at the end of the note, and make sure that release samples are switched on.

  • Thanks. Not sure I get how this works, but I'll try it.

Do you use Cubase? I wonder if there any chance that this could be incorporated into an articulation of VSTExpression. Automation like this gets tedious doing over and over in Cubase.
