  • What is wrong with my VEPRO template?! Crash when connecting with Cubase

    Hello,

I've had the problem with VEPRO crashing when connecting with Cubase. It crashes when the the last instrument is connected, and VEPRO just disapears.

I've tried removing several parts of the VEPRO template and it's still crashing.

Inside Cubase I send the midi tracks to the rack and a rack instance, then each rack instance is connected with the "vienna ensemble pro" insert.

Q1 should I choose "vienna ensemble pro" or "vienna ensemble pro 64x" in the rack?

There are recorded (string overdubs f.ex) audio inside Cubase, that is not connected with VEPRO.

Q2 Does recordings/audio tracks interfere with VEPRO?

I've attached a picture of my settings in both VEPRO and Cubase

Q3 Is there something wrong with my settings?

I hope there is an answer to this problem, I've been hard at work for countless hours for several days now to fix it. Even upgraded Cubase to 8.5, upgraded Windows to 10, updated pretty much everything I have on the computer.

  • However, the only way to get my VEPRO template to work in Cubase is by:

1.Starting Cubase first and load up project

    2.Load up VEPRO template

    3.reconnect rack with VEPRO

This takes almost an hour to complete, since each instance takes a few minutes to fully connect.

I would be happy beyond measure if someone could help me fix this issue, and if anyone would like to help me even over Skype with shared screen to see how my computer looks like and how everything is setup that would be truly awesome!

If you want to use the VST3 version choose VEP. If you want to use the VST2 version, choose VEP 64x

As for the crashes, I suggest that you contact support@vsl.co.at and send them a crash dump. Until you know which product is causing the crash, you don't know who to contact to get it fixed. It doesn't have anything to do with live recordings in your project.

  • Thanks for the tips! :)

I have a couple of questions though, if you don't mind.

Q1 Should I use VEPRO x64 in the instrument rack in Cubase?

I don't think I have any 32bit instruments anyways, and fill each instance with around 10-30 instruments.

Q2 It's there a spesific order to close and save Cubase and VEPRO?

After saving and I reopen VEPRO and the instances are not decoupled, even though I saved them as decoupled. Is this correct?

II'm not really sure what you mean, so I can't answer. Perhaps another one for support.
