How do I set VEP to play in a midi mono mode for live playing of woodwinds or brass?

Thank you, DG. Your answer is usable. I am using Cubase 8.and usually use VEP. I switched the trumpet track to VIP and selected the legato cells. Now have sloppy playing a trumpet is not as noticeable. 😊
Funny that although I have VIP, I never really used to until now.

You may be able to do this inside Cubase, too, which would allow you to use all the VSL articulations. I'm still on Cubase 4, so I'm not quite sure if Cubase 8 would be the same, but there may be a parameter somewhere on the virtual instrument area or the MIDI track to select the number of voices. This is designed for basic VSTs that only have very limited polyphony, but I think you can achieve the result you're after if you set it to 1.
Seems to me that it should be a part of the keyboard. After all, it was a capability that was around since the DX7. I have an Akai MPK88, but I cannot find it on the keyboard, nor in the manual. It is advertised as a midi controller. You would think that it would be a capability of the keyboard.
