  • PC problem - eLicenser Dongle USB Power

This is admitedly a general PC issue, but I'm having a problem I can't fix.

Everytime I restart my computer and open VEP, my eLicenser dongle must be re-planted into a USB port before VEP accepts the license. It's almost like the USB port stays dormant until I wake it up by planting something into the port.

I've updated all USB power management to never sleep. Not sure what setting I could be missing. This is across all USB ports.

Apologies if this is not the right place to post, if so let me know if anyone has a good general PC forum that might help.

    Thanks All!

  • I'm quite sure I've never heard of this before.

However, as a possible workaround, could you just leave your PC in sleep mode?

  • I've had this problem over the years on various machines, except that it has never been a 100% fault. What I've done is put all my dongles in a powered hub which is easy to get to, and if the light isn't on when I boot up I unplug and re-seat.

  • Both good ideas. I typically run into problems with computers that are left in sleep mode and prefer to leave that disabled.

A powered USB Hub is a great "how did I not think of that?" idea. Will try that out.
