  • Cubase 8.5 and VSL Ensemble Pro/Server 5

Hi - Any help greatly appreciated.  I have added a screenshot that illustrates the problem I am having and will try to describe.  First of all, all of this is on a new Mac Pro running El Capitan, the latest versions of Cubase 8.5, VSL Ensemble Pro and VSL Ensemble Pro Server.  I am able to successfully use VSL Ensemble Pro and Pro Server with Ableton on this computer, so I know they work.  The issue is getting them to work in Cubase.

Cubase Issue.  I start VSL Ensemble Pro Server 64-bit.  Then I start Cubase 8.5.  Then I load VSL Ensemble Pro as an Instrument.

The screenshot attached shows the problem.  First, Server does not see the Ensemble Pro instance in Cubase so I cannot connect.  Second, when I open Ensemble Pro I get this squirrely little box that only shows the instrument on/off, bypass and read/write buttons (the little box next to the Cubase Vienna Ensemble lane).

Does anyone else have this problem or have a suggestion on how to connect Ensemble Pro with Pro Server in Cubase 8.5?

    Thanks so much!

  • I think I solved my own problem, but that raises another question.  I was using the VST3 version of VSL Ensemble Pro.  Instead, when I use the VST2 version, everything works fine.  Is there a reason why my VST3 version would be causing problems in Cubase 8.5?
