Hello,

This is the first time I post here. I am about to build a slave machine with a bunch of SSDs in it for libraries.
I know that VEP5 works through ethernet connection and 10Gbt connection ( I am planning to use the Intel x540 10Gbit ethernet connection to link the master and the slave together).

My question is probably very stupid, but I can't seam to find any info about it at all.

Is it possible to connect the two computers using TWO 10G cables to double the bandwidth through which data is transfered over to the master computer? In other words, is it possible to establish a connections using two 10G cables and double the speed at which the sounds travel from the slave machine to the master machine into my DAW?

Thank you

Hello Lorenzo,

To be honest, we haven´t tried such a setup yet. In my eyes, you would only increase the bandwidth, not the speed.

If you like, you can always check with a free demo license.

Simply register your ViennaKey here.

Alternatively, you can also use a Steinberg or Arturia Key, if you have one or can get one faster (they are usually available in music stores, and it´s the same copy protection system, "eLicenser").

Please let me know when this is done, I will send a demo license right away.

Best,
Paul

Thank you very much Paul.

I don't have my set up put together yet, but as soon as I assemble everything I will definitely try it out.

I guess I wasn't trying to make the throughput faster. I was wondering if Vienna supports such set up. If I can have 20Gbit total of throughput insted of 10G, so I can stream more sounds at the same time without bottlenek anything.

Wouldn't aggregating your network do this? The downside is you would need 2 ports on each system for one connection.

Would you mind explaning what Aggregating means?

I have space for multiple network cards so I don't mind having multiple.

I have planned to have 6 Slave machines, are you saying that the master machine needs to have 12 Network cards?

Sorry I know very little about this.

Hey Piano Pete,

I'm very interested in learning about this Aggregation method. Do you have any additional insights about it?

Thanks
