  • Using MIRx Packs in MIR Pro/24

I'm evaluating MIR 24 after having purchased three of the MIRx room pack licenses previously for the Vienna Instruments Pro player. I'd like more control over the MIRx reverbs, thus the thought of switching to MIR 24. :-)

It seems that I still have to download room packs for MIR 24. Are the MIRx room packs not being used by MIR 24? If not, is there an upgrade path from MIRx to MIR 24?

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

There is a MIRx MODE in MIR PRO available (as MIRx venues were of course created from MIR PRO), but MIR PRO does not use MIRx venues.

There is no upgrade path from MIRx to the RoomPacks, I´m afraid.

  • Thanks, Paul.

When I enable the MIRx Mode in MIR 24, the dialog states "NO MIRx VENUE-PRESET AVAILABE". What is required to enable that? Licenses for the MIRx rooms (the 3 I have) are properly registered. I have the Teldex and the GrosserSaal and Mozartsaal room packs.

  • Hello again,

As far as I can see, you "only" have a demo license for RoomPack 1 (Konzerthaus). Did you check that you have downloaded and installed this RoomPack, and that it´s available (path can be set in the MIR PRO Preferences)?

If that doesn´t help, please send a screenshot that also shows the error message to support@vsl.co.at, I´ll take a look.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Again, thanks for the quick reply, Paul!

    A couple of things:

I suppose I was confused by the mention of the MIRx settings in the MIR Pro product description. I assumed that they are "included" based on the MIRx room packs I already have installed on the system. However, it seems that separate MIR room packs are required to enable the MIRx functionality in MIR Pro.

I started the download yesterday and have yet to install the Konzerthaus room pack. I'll check back in if that for some reason doesn't address the issue/question.

  • All good. After installing the Konzerthaus room pack, I was able to get the MIRx presets in MIR 24.

Might have been just me not understanding that the MIRx room packs are strictly just for use within VE Instruments. :-)

The so-called "General Purpose Profiles" are meant to be used for 3rd-party instruments and actual audio recordings. Just be aware that MIR doesn't "know" as many details about the incoming signals as it's the case with Vienna Instruments. Kind regards,

  • Hello!

Do I understand right that "MIRx mode" is only available for a venue of which I own the MIRx version AND the corresponding roompack? Or do I just need the respective roompack?

Say, I own the Gateshead and now buy MIR Pro along with the Konzerthaus (!) roompack. Will I be able to use the Gateshead "MIRx mode" additionally?

    Kind regards and sleep well,
    Lukas

  • You only need to own a license for the MIR Pro Venue that formed the basis for the respective MIRx release. You don't need to have an additional MIRx license, in that case. For MIR Pro users the presets come for free. :-) Kind regards,

  • Ah, okay, in short that means that owning a MIRx brings no advantage as soon as I own MIR Pro other than what it was before: it's a quick black box (with no dependence on Pro whatsoever). :) Thank you.
