  • loading Contact Patches with aux channels

    Hello,

I'm using VEP along with Logic Pro X. Normally when I load Kontact into Logic on a midi channel I add auxillary channels to the midi channel and then go to batch functions in Kontact in order to clear the output sections and create one individual aux channel for each loaded instrament. However, when I load Kontact into VEP the same function doesn't seem to work. Is there anyway to direct the output to an aux channel in Logic to avoid using tons of instances and to avoid loading Kontact a huge amount of times?

When you load Kontakt into VEP you have only Mono & Stereo audio output options - there is no Multi-Output option in that rack dialog.

    Let me correct myself…
VEP 6 does not offer Multi-Output for AU, however you can load Kontact as VST Multi-Output instance in VEP. After Multi-Output loading click the VEP Mixer tab and you will see that the Kontact channel instance offers a “+” symbol at bottom (same like Logic Multi-Output channels). Click the “+” button to create as many auxiliary channels you want. VEP will create them under the Kontakt Instrument channel. Select each VEP Aux channel and set its audio output to Out 3/4; Out 5-6 etc. Create Aux Channels in Logic as well.
    That works perfectly.

BTW. Do not miss to set the VEP Kontakt instance to MIDI “Ch.All”!

  • Hi,

Just to add: There is now a PREFERENCE setting available to define the default MIDI Channel for each instantiated plug-in (VE PRO Prefereces => Instances => Default MIDI Channel).

    Best,
