  • AAX dont load RTAS project any solution?

    Hi all,

I updated from VEP 5 to VEP 6 but when I open old projects in Protools 10 there is only text that RTAS version is unaviable and AAX version dont load RTAS project. How can I open old projects with instruments Loaded ?

This is big compatibility mistake !

    Hello koka013,

I´m afraid that RTAS is indeed not supported with VE PRO 6 anymore, you´d have to convert your RTAS songs to AAX with VE PRO 5 and then open them in VE PRO 6.

I think I might be in the same boat when I upgrade to VEP 6. Its my understanding that when you upgrade to 6, it uninstalls version 5. So does that mean you'd have to downgrade to 5 everytime you needed to adjust RTAS to AAX? That sounds a bit complicated & time consuming.

I see a number of peeps still having issues with 6 yet. If I do buy 6 & run into challenges, is it hard to downgrade back to 5?

    Thx,

    Dan

  • Hello Dan,

Yes, VE PRO 6 licenses will UPGRADE your VE PRO 5 license, so you can use either VE PRO 5 OR VE PRO 6.

VE PRO 6 will overwrite VE PRO 5 on your computer, so you have to decide which version you want to use.

Also, VE PRO 6 projects will NOT open with VE PRO 5 (only the other way around).

It might be a good idea to stay with VE PRO 5, if you need RTAS to be available.

Rolling back to VE PRO 5 is not hard (simply use the UNINSTALLER, then install VE PRO 5), but might lead to confusion when you´re going back and forth.

    Best,
    Paul

  • I'm running PTHD 10, so I can certainly run AAX. I find RTAS more stable overall, so I tend to run that, whenever I have the choice. Guess I'll need to make a mental note to switch to AAX on any current projects I'm running when making the upgrade.

  • I too am having this same issue.. All of my old sessions which I need accesible to me are running VEP 5 as RTAS. Now that i've upgraded to VEP6 the plug in is not availiable. Will there ever be any future support for this. I was under the assuption VEP was "fully backward compatible"
