  • VEP 6 Crashes with Protools 11.3.1

    Hello

First excuse my english... I work with Protools 11.3.1 on macbook pro ( I7 - 2,6 Ghz - 16 Go - 10,9,5). Everytime i work with VSL product, I'm realy impressed by stability of the softwares. But since I (try) to work with VEP 6, I had a lot of problems, and I will downgrade to VEP5...

Firts : When I quit a Protools session, I never know if VEP 6 will be here at the next time ! Instruments start to load, ant crashes. After crashes, it's impossible to get back my VEP instance, even without Protools, when I simply try to load a VEP 6 project.  Datas are definitively loose...

Sometime, I simply made an "Undo" on VEP 6,  and VEP crashes. Same things : impossible to get back data.

One other strange thing : When VEP 6 crashes, and when I clik on the plug in Protools : Protools crash in a fraction of a second !

I work with VEP since about 7 years, and it's the first time I experiment so mutch trouble. I had try to uninstall, and reinstall : nothing change, impossible to work.

I will send a report of one of my crashes to VSL, if, it's can help...

  • Hi Macgort,

I already answered your mail to Support, that´s a crash in the SWAM engine that is showing up in that crash report.

It looks like you are experiencing multiple crashes.

You can send us more crash reports, please add a description when which crashes occur.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Ok, thank's Paul for your quick answer !

I will send them a crash report. For the moment, i stay on VEP 5, it's more sure...

    Thank's again...

  • Hello

Just a message to say : Everything work fine since I downgrade yesterday to Vep5, no crash, no problems, as usual...

  • Hello Macgort,

I´m in touch with my colleagues at SWAM, they are also trying to reproduce this behaviour with VE PRO 5.

Which SWAM instruments are you using, and which version of the SWAM Engine?

    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Hello Paul

Everything work fine with VE PRO 5, there's crashes only with VE PRO 6...

In the crashe session, VE PRO 6 contain this Swam Engine (64 bits) instruments :

    - Flûtes (Flûte & Piccolo) 2.6.1   /  Clarinets (Clarinet & Bass Clarinet) 2.2.O   /   DoubleReeds (Basson) 2.5.0   /

In this session, I was also working  with Sample Modeling "Trombone 3.0.1", and "French Horn 1.03", but not in VE PRO, directly in Protools with Kontakt 5.5.1.451. But, it's not Swam engine, and there's certainty, no connexions with the problem...

    Thank's !

  • Hello Emanuele

Thank's for your answer. I will update all Swam instruments as soon as possible. But, unfortunately (for this problem only) I left my home today to start a tour in France for about one month. I will made a report with this update in the first november week.

Thank's Paul, and Emanuele, for your work, and for your disponibility.

    To be continued...
