  • Percussion staff with multiple single percussion sounds

    Hello,

I am quite new to Vienna Library and I am wondering how to assign multiple single percussion sounds to one staff to create an equivalent to a drum 'kit'.

I have followed the general set-up guide for other intruments and single percussion to a staff with success, but it's the multiple matrix I have yet to grasp.

I use Sibelius 7.5 with the standard orchestra VL on MAC OS Yosemite.

Grateful for any guidance or a link to a reference guide.

    Many thanks,

    Stephen Roberts

  • Hello Stephen!

With Sibelius playing our instruments, I would rather use instrument changes between different percussion instruments or simply use more instruments underneath each other than having them on the same multi-percussion-staff. If you want to have them on the same staff, you will have to create a percussion instrument with Sound IDs for all sounds that you want to use yourself. This is not a trivial task.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Thanks Andi. I was hoping you wouldn't say that!

    Kind regards,

    Stephen

Hi, I found this old entry. I really like to make this, even though it is not a trivial task. Is there an explanation for how to do this somewhere?

  • Hello terjewinther!

Welcome to the forum. This is something that you would have to make up in the Sibelius "Edit Instruments/Edit staff type" menu. I would check the Sibelius manual, but there are no specific instructions that I know of on how to do that for our libraries.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hi Andi,

Thanks. I will read up on that and found out how to do it.
