  • [SOLVED] VE PRO 5&6 - Patch loading stalls when opening a Metaframe or Server Project

    Hi all,

The issue I'm describing was already occurring in VE Pro 5, and it still happens in VE Pro 6, in the exact same way.

I have a heavy orchestral metaframe that I converted to the new server project format, and consisting of 3 instances. It includes 15GB or so of VSL instruments (in VI pro), 1 or 2 UVI instruments, and 22GB of EWQL instruments (Hollywood Strings and Symphonic Choirs).

Once the project is loaded, it works like a charm (and the new VE Pro 6 interface makes it even more enjoyable, congratulations on this great upgrade!). The only issue is, it takes ages to load because it regularly stops loading and starts again a few minutes later. The "Loading" progression bar remains empty for a while. When I monitor the RAM usage in Task Manager, the RAM usage curve becomes a flat line throughout the stalling, meaning no patch is placed into the RAM during that time. When patches are actually loading, the process is quite fast.

    Now for the technical aspects:

    • VE Pro 6 installed on Windows 7, with 64GB RAM, i7 6-core CPU and nothing running in the background (it's completely offline I don't even run an antivirus)
    • VE Pro 6 runs on a 128GB SSD, the patches are located on an internal 1TB SSD.
    • The stalling issue concerns only EW Hollywood Strings patches from what I have observed so far.

Please note that sticking to the "Watched water never boils" principle usually solves it. In the end, the whole project is loaded. But I know it could be much faster!

Thank you very much for any help or hint!

  • Hello Esther,

We don´t have any influence on the loading of third party plug-ins, I´m afraid. Did you contact EastWest already?
They do have VE PRO 6 to check in their support team of course.

    Best,

  • Hi Paul,

Thank you for being s prompt. I had not thought of asking EW since I observed the issue while loading the template in VE but you're so right, that's where I should be looking.

    Thanks again!

  • ISSUE SOLVED! Upgrade Play to Play 5.

Following your advice I turned to East West and started by downloading and installing the brand new version of Play, Play 5. Now the patches load very smoothly and my 35Go Template is up in 5 minutes.

Thanks for pointing me to the right direction!
