  • Music for a Theater piece

    Hi,

I´d like to post music with I wrote for a theater piece in Cologne. I did 14 small pieces, most 45 sec. between every scene and used most vsl instruments. I hope you enjoy all music in one file:

Feel free to listen and comment.

    Thanks a lot,

    Markus

  • Can't tell about the show, surely the music is worth a travel to Cologne.

  • This sounds great to me; very well produced! For some reason the oboe sounds much more fake than the other instruments (nothing one can do with solo strings in some areas) - I don't know why that should be the case.

  • Very nice and with good variation. Your orchestration reminds me of Kurt Weil (who wrote music for most of Berthold Brecht's theater pieces).

  • Thanks Fabio. :-) I hope the music and the show fit together.

  • Hallo Errikos, I am happy that you like my music. I´m still not uncertain with the mixing, becaurse I am more musician than technician. Maby I have to bring the Oboe more in the back?

  • Thanks Max, you are right, I thougt a bit of Weil, special with the ensemble cast. I wrote first 4 themes for every actor in the piece and played with them in every scene how the story was.

    Greetings to Hamburg :-)

  • These sound really good and make me very curious to see the show.  I like the movement from one section to another and all the humorous variation, especially as how it is a fairly small ensemble in the orchestration.

  • You´re right Fabio. I realized in the middle of the composition, that there is a little problem with the velocity of the french oboe. Next time I will try it more in your way. Thanks. I already used the values, but maby to less. :-)

I am happy that you find the sound good enough. I still did the mix with to less knowledge. Learnig by doing.

I don't think there are misplacements in your mix. I guess Errikos refers to oboe's timbre than its presence.

That's indeed what I meant, thanks.
