  • Optimal Slave configuration

I heard in a seminar by Trevor Morris that VSL recommended using 4 metaframe instances instead of one huge instance. With this in mind, lets examine a hypothetical scenario: One slave computer with 128GB Ram running 2000 instruments on 4 metaframes. OR two 64GB slaves, each running their own 4 metaframes (1000 instruments each). In theory it seems that the two separate slaves would be better due to the increase in CPU power and spreading of the load? But does it behave this way in reality? Would the HOST computer be taxed more connecting with 2 slaves and twice the amount of instances, compared to connecting to the single huge slave? FYI I do have VST3.
