  • Compare the sound of Violin1 and Violin2

    Hi all

I produced two demos twice - once with "Violin 1" and once with "Violin 2".

The first demo shows the fast and loud sounds of the two violins... (see my website)

and the second demo shows more the slow played and soft sounds of them (see below)

Please visit my homepage for information about the demos, the used effects and for the first (fast) demo:

    Have fun

  • Thanks, Beat, nr 40 tells a lott about the character of the violin 2. I 'm very curious about the Nella Fantasia...

  • Obviously they are very similar, but to my ears the violin 1 sounds a bit more agressive, violin 2 more refined.

No, for me the intruments are not sounding very similar. I like the new instruments very much. In my view they sound more realistic than Violin 1 and Cello 1. I bought both intruments, but without ponticello, harmonics, marcato they are probably useless for me. If I have more time I will try to use articulations from Violin 1 for Violin 2 and from Cello 1 for Cello 2. Also there are certainly workarounds for some articulations. But I expect that this will not work with all articulations I need.

I don't understand that VSL don't release Extended Libraries for this great instruments!!!

  • More realistic sounds the first Violin. The new one tries to sound "too perfect". For me it will be the perfect 1rst chair-Player in my Dimension Strings - Group. And the old Violin will be my Solo Player. No need for a further development from my side. Ponticello and harmonics are not the common way to play ... it's more like "effective playing".

  • What the hell is that supposed to mean?  I cannot extract one particle of meaning from that post.

  • Ok, then i'll make it shorter. From my point of view the new Violin and Cello are created as "first Instruments " for the Dimension Strings 1. Not officialy but I think that is what herb had in mind when he recorded these Instruments. But this is only what I think :) No negative thoughts here. These 2 Instruments are perfect as they are right now.

  • O.K., sorry I didn't see what you were saying.  I think you are right on that.

Just don't know whether you've recognized that "Nella" is online - directly here. 😉

A short feedback about "Violine 2" from my side:

It is very helpful, that Violine 2 has a completely other sound than Violine 1. So playing them unison will lead into a great sound, I am sure (this I didn't try until now).
So Violine 2 can cover pieces in totaly other way than Violin 1 - soundwise and stylewise. That's why I am looking foreward to play my strings - now combined unison with Violin1+Violine2+Chambers - or other combinations.

Thankyou so much VSL  👍👍👍 ... BTW The same applies to the Cello)

  • I recognized it, thank you. Indeed the sound of the 2 solo violins are very different.
