  • Download problem

    Hello VSL,

I've just bought the new Violin and Cello 2. I have the licences okay. Downloaded the download manager. Windows 7 Firewall message came up. I ticked box saying run as private ok but the control box on the download manager is greyed out so none of the buttons work. I don't know what step to take from here.

I should mention the laptop I'm downloading to is not the computer on which I want to load the new samples. All my VSL stuff is on a computer which has no internet connection.

    Help would be much appreciated.

  • Hi Oceanview,

If your firewall settings are too strict, the download will not work, I´m afraid. What did the message say?

  • I am having problems also.  I downloaded the two files and put the licences on my elicencer, but the download manager cannot find them!

Edit: The problem was solved with a re-download of the Download Manager.  Sorry to use your thread, but we were talking about the same program and files.

  • Hello Paul, thanks for your response.

I went back to the VSL site and downloaded the files manually. They seem okay thus far. The solo Violin 2 did a check of itself; the solo cello 2 seemingly not. I can't remember whether it did that automatically or whether I triggered it in some way.

Next step will be to move the files across to the other computer and see if I can install successfully.

  • Sorry, still having problems installing the new violin and cello.

Having moved the files to the other computer, the Download managers I used for both do nothing now - they do not respond to install. They both show the instrument name before I started downloading. Last night when I opened them they also said I had already downloaded that instrument, as if they are stuck in some way.

I have tried working the Library Installer that is with VIPro on this computer. It asks me to find the package.info files for the new instrument, which I can, it then warns me I need a licence for this instrument, which I have on the Vienna Key, and after that nothing else happens. The cello's package.infop behaves in the same way.

    Can you advise further? Thanks.

  • Tried a new download manager, one which is blank, and it doesn't seem to want to load the yellow Violin 2 into it for installation. Also updated VIPro to the latest and tried the Library Installer from there. Same thing as before - it gets as far as asking for a licence and then doesn't do anything more.

  • Okay, have now got into the problem more. The licences are not being seen on the Vienna Key. I've updated the eLicenser software, which then required the microsoft Net 4 update, which I have applied. The eLicenser was re-installed and now I'm getting a message that the program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-1-1-0.dll is missing. Can anyone suggest how I fix this?

I checked the licences on the laptop which has internet access and they're fine.

    Thanks.

  • As a warning to anyone else who gets into a similar situation I am now stuck with a dll problem caused by applying windows update KB2999226 and the 2015 Visual C redistributable update refusing until I uninstall and not knowing what can be safely uninstalled.

    Hi,

Wow, what a mess, sorry about that.

The best idea is to send us some screenshots so we can see what you see: support@vsl.co.at

    This is what I´d do:

    1) Finish the download of all files.

    2) Move the downloaded installation files (including a package.info) file over to your music computer (which has all updated software for VSL and eLicenser, of course).

    3) Start the LIBRARY INSTALLER and point it to the package.info, then the installation should start as expected.

This is also documented in the Download Manager Manual.

    Paul

  • Hello Paul,

Thanks for your response. Before I send any screenshots I need to clarify something. All the problems my most recent messages have been describing are occuring on the music computer, not on the laptop. In other words, I have successfully downloaded the two solo instruments and moved them across to the music computer. All the trouble is on that one. On that computer the Library Installer was asking for the package.info files and I was providing them.

I have checked the licences on the Vienna key. They are read on the laptop by eLicencer. The eLicencer on my music computer was an older version and it was stopping the Library Installer because (I believe) it could not see the licences. I updated to the latest eLicencer and that started a sequence of failures caused by missing files such as the Net 4, then the api-ms-(etc) dll file. I tried to fix this with a dll from Windows, that created another problem which need Windows Update KB2999226 which eventually led to a Visual C redistribution error.

The eLicencer seems to include a Visual C+++ 2015 file - is that correct? during the install? The 2015 file I downloaded from microsoft seems to be an older version than the one eLicenser is installing.

At present the eLicencer cannot be launched. That's as far as I have got. I just wonder whether anyone else has had a similar problem at some time or other recently.

  • Hi,

    No problems like this anywhere.

Which OS is that again, exactly? Which Service Pack?

  • Hello Paul,

My music computer has never been online and it was supplied with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Consequently it has had no updates. I downloaded and ran SP1. The Library Installer has now successfully installed Solo violin 2 and Solo cello 2 and they are showing up in the Vienna House style and in the VE Strings soundset. I have not yet tried playing them. All good, except ... eLicenser gives the message api-ms-win-art-runtime-1.1.0 dll is missing.

Can I just clarify that within VIPro on the right hand side Violin solo 2 and solo cello 2 are listed as 01 and 03 underneath Dimension Strings? (I ask this because I have a memory from a few years ago that there were some presets created for a second violin which used the first violin but were transposed and pitch-shifted. )

Likewise 01PVC2 Art-Combi small - is that the correct one for the Solo Cello 2?

    Thanks.

[Edit: have fixed the dll problem with the right 64bit file. Everything seems to play.]
