  • VEP 5 Windows Update Broke Kontakt

My Slave machine - Windows 7 64bit pro, has been working fine with VEP 5.4.14074 64bit.

Today I updated to a newer version and I get this message: "VST: Kontak5 (Could not create plugin)"

I went back to 5.4.14074 thinking this would solve that problem, but I'm still getting that error.

Is this something I can fix?

    Much appreciated,

    Robert

btw, my DAW machine, MacPro Snow/Leopard, worked fine with the update.  But I restored to 5.4.1... just to be consistent.

  • Hi Robert,

Sounds like some kind of VST plug-in folder confusion to me. Maybe you have multiple Kontakt 5 versions installed in different VST plug-in folders which are assigned to VE PRO (Preferences => Plug-ins)?

  • Apparently my VST folder is now missing - after installing the new version.

If I recreate the VST folder, then download and install the various VST plugins (easy to do), will I then most likely return my VEP setup to the way it was?

What is the proper file structure for plugins? Where should I create a "VSTPlugin Folder"?

    Thanks!

    Robert

  • Hi Anthropy,

You can create VST plug-in folders wherever you like, a location that´s easy to remember makes sense.

I create a VST32 and a VST64 plug-ins folder and keep ALL plug-ins in those 2 folders, to avoid confusion.
