  • VE PRO 6 Crashing on Unloading Session

    Hi all,

I recently downlaoded the latest VE PRO build of 6.015567 (Dec 5th) & now every time I try to close a session VE PRO freezes & I have to force quit, causing the program to crash. I am experiencing this with both Cubase 8.5 & 9 as the host DAW.

Anyone else experiencing this as well?

    - Ian

  • Welcome Ian,

Sorry to hear about the problem you're facing. As a matter of fact I run into similar issues myself at the moment, but VSL software engineers couldn't find a pattern in it, up to now.

If you see that VE Pro writes crash dumps, please send them to support@vsl.co.at - this would help to hunt down the culprit.

    TIA and kind regards,

  • Oh - and please include as many technical details as possible (CPU, RAM, OS, audio system, driver versions ... ).

    Thanks!

  • I just purchased VEP Pro 6 and have a similar  issue with the program crashing while unloading the instances. It seems to be independent on the size or number of the instance. I am working on a Mac Book Pro 16GB Ram, OSX 10.11.6, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7. Thank you in advance for any recommendation.

  • Hi Hans,

Please send me the crash report: support@vsl.co.at, we will look into it.

  • I'm experiencing this as well, which brings another question: why does VEP actually need to unload samples ? I'm almost finding it convenient when it crashes...

Call me a heretic, I'm sometimes tempted to force quit it when I'm in a hurry so I don't have to wait for 60ish GB to unload. Looks like all it takes is a project save beforehand?

    Hi,

Unloading samples is the organized way to create space in RAM.

You can also save and force-quit, but you have to live with being called a heretic 😛

  • Thanks Paul.

So this is you confirming I'm not stressing my RAM/OS in any way if I force quit VEP? If so I'll be heretically saving minutes on a weekly basis, starting now ;)

  • Hi,

It could possibly affect other programs, like eLicenser, best idea is to force quit it and the process "synsopos", then restart.

  • Same Problem on my Mac Pro 10.11.6 with Cubase 8.5 and latest VEP6.

VEP6 crashes after having quit a Cubase session. But fortunately my Mac doesn't freeze.

I have crash reports. Where can I send them?
