  • VSL PRO servers are not listed

    Hello,

I use VSL Pro 5 Server on slave PC computer. And servers IP is not listed in the VSL Pro plugin when I try to connect. I can type IP manually, but I have around 7 servers, and it is very inconvenient to type IP and name every time.

Why it is not visible in the VSL Pro plugin? Mac OS Sierra 10.12.1

  • Hi Lionberg,

    What are your network settings?

You should definitely use static IP addresses, and avoid 169.x.x.x addresses (these are automatically assigned by your computer and tend to change).

    Please try the following:

Manually assign one of these IP addresses to the computers in your setup: 192.168.0.x or 10.0.0.x, and assign a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (leave the other fields blank), then it should work.

Did you try to deactivate the firewall on your windows computer?
If you need the firewall to be on, please establish exception rules for certain ports as described in the VE PRO 6 manual on page 4:

  • I use a router.

    subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.

Slave PC is 192.168.1.123, and connected to the router via cable

Master connected to the router via WiFi

    router IP 192.168.1.1

Firewall setup is correct (I can connect if I type IP manually)

    Any suggestions please?

  • Hi Lionberg,

Any other "security programs" / AV programs that could block the server recognition?
Did you try to switch the firewall off, just to check (you can disconnect from the internet for this time).

I see that you registered VE PRO in June already - did it work before? What changed?

    Best,
    Paul

It's because you are on WiFi.

I have a master macOS and a slave Windows. Slave always connected via ethernet cable to router.

When macOS is on WiFi, I can connect to master if I manually type in the IP address but does not appear on servers list.

When macOS is also connected with ethernet cable (regardless if WiFi is on or off) the server appears on the list.

  • Thank you for suggestion, I will try that, and report.

    Thank you for the answer.

Yes, I registered it in June, and I have never seen the available servers list in the plugin. But I will try the suggestion by ciprianis, and I will report if I am succeeded. If I am, then it might be WiFi issue.

    Hello Paul.

I connected my master computer (MacOS Sierra) to the router via cable. My slave PC is connected via cable as well. And now I can see, but only one server instance. This is very strange, because I have several of them. Please see pictures attached.

    image1 (plugin window)

    image2 (server)

Thus, this is not a firewall issue (I can see one instance). So, firewall are off, master and slave are connected via cables. Please suggest.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Hello Lionberg,

The Server Interface plug-in does NOT show instances that are already connected (you can tell that your instances are connected by looking at the "plug"- sign next to the instance name in the server window).

It only shows available instances that are not connected.

    Does that help?

    Best,
    Paul

    Hi,

I like the "Sitfire Violins" ðŸ˜Š

So it works like it should, in my eyes... sample streaming over WIFI will not work.

    Am I maybe missing something?
