  • Sharing a couple compositions.

Hello! I'm a college student from Sweden looking to share some music I've made.
The link is directed to the composition I've made that I'm happiest with but navigate around my channel and maybe you'll find something else that you like too.

If you like what you're hearing and want to support me, please consider sharing with others aswell.

    Thank you for listening!

Congratulations! You're on a great path with your compositions, and it will be interesting to see your development as you continue your studies and beyond. The overall piece is energetic, filled with interesting timbral changes, and with dazzling virtuosity that keeps the listener engaged around a fairly limited harmonic structure. I'd look at a little more dynamic contrast, and checking the repeated strings at around the 1:50 mark (they sound a little synthy, and could benefit from a lighter articulation as they get somewhat "stodgy" for lack of a better term).

Great job and continued success to you!

I can only second Dave's impressions and suggestions; must add this sounds undoubtedly Swedish. ðŸ˜ƒ

  • Thank you both for your kind comments and feedback!

I do agree that the composition could benefit from a bit more dynamic variation
and I will try to be more carefull with the strings in future compositions.

This composition was created on three seperate occasions.

First I created it for piano only (albeit some sections will have to be a bit simplified if a human is actually to play it at its intended speed.). Then at some point I added about half of the orchestration (for the first half of the composition). Then I took a long break until I actually finished orchestrating it (perhaps more than a year). At that point I had been able to acquire some new libraries (8dio's lacrimosa choir and Orchestral Tools' Berlin Woodwinds), which is why you're hearing those only in the second half of the composition. The "Hey" sound is separate though, a public domain sound that I downloaded from some site.

I'm not entirely happy with how the female vocals turned out after the "Hey" shouts. There seemed to be a latency involved when using the choir at such a high tempo (150bpm) so I couldn't really get them to play when I wanted to. I tried to fiddle around with it, placing the notes at an incorrect point in the timeline to compensate for the latency, but I still didn't manage to get it quite right.

I find that one difficult thing when composing is that, as I compose my pieces, I tend to get bored of them from listening to them over again, eventually feeling that I never want to hear that track ever again. I try to solve this by working by multiple projects at once, to some degree of success. I hope that as i get more experienced and as libraries become more playable I will compose more quickly and spend less time turning knobs and sliders.

My ultimate goal is to be able to compose one short composition every day (1-2 minutes perhaps) without sacraficing quality for quantity. Though that's still way off. Right now my goal is a 3-5 minute composition every two weeks.

Sorry about the wall of text and thanks again for the compliments and feedback.

I'll keep you updated on new compositions.
    Johannes
