  • X3watch makes MIR PRO and VE PRO stop working in Pro Tools

X3watch is internet monitoring software designed to help pople be accountable for their internet activity.  It sends a report of your internet activity to an accountability partner.

Last week I installed X3watch.  The next day, I was no longer able to instantiate MIR PRO or VE PRO in Pro tools (v 12.6).  I reinstalled elicenser, MIR PRO, VE PRO, and Pro Tools, but nothing helped.

I uninstalled X3watch, and immediately the problem went away.  I re-installed X3watch, and immediately the problem returned.

Does anybody have any idea why an internet monitoring program would affect audio software, like Pro Tools and MIR?  I'm baffled.

    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Hi,

it seems as something went wrong with your posting ...?

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you, Dietz. I accidentally deleted my original post. I re-wrote it, and now it's back.

  • VE Pro has access to your network, so maybe X3watch thinks it must take care for it. :-)

Is there a way to define exception rules in the preferences of this application? Then you should put VE Pro on that list.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you for a possible explanation.  I don't think X3watch has such a setting that you mentioned, but if I re-install the application, I will check to make sure.

Does your theory explain that I could not use MIR as a plug in?  Note that in those cases, I was not using VE Pro, but was using only the MIR plug in.  Every time I tried to insert it into a new session onto the first track, MIR would hang.  Each time, I had to 'Force Quit' MIR, and then would have to 'Force Quit' Pro Tools.

Hmmmmm .... not really, actually. But then, I'm just a sound guy, not a software engineer. 😉

If the issue continues to bother you, please get in contact with support@vsl.co.at, including a short reference to this thread and as many technical details as possible (OS, CPU, software- and driver-versions etc.). VSL support staff will take care for the problem.

    Kind regards,
