  • SOLVED: VE Pro 6 not connecting after updating to El Capitan and Logic 10.3

Master: 2012 Macbook Pro, previously running Logic 10.2 & VE Pro 6 on Yosemite and working fine, now updated to El Capitan, Logic 10.3 - VE Pro 6 now longer working. Static IP address on ethernet network.

3 Slaves: 2012 Mac Minis running VE Pro 6 on Yosemite (not updated to El Capitan). Connected to Ethernet hub - still show as connected to Master, can access files between computers, but VE Pro 6 not connecting. Static IP addresses on all machines.

Previous Logic projects do not connect to slave instances as before. Slave instances do not show up in the "available instances" window of Master VE Pro server. Tried to manually connect VE Pro through IP addresses - does not work - "Connection Failed" error message every time.

Verified all VE Pro 6 software up to date - all computers running the same version. Uninstalled-reinstalled VE Pro 6 on Master computer. Still not connecting.

In Logic Pro 10.3, rescanned all Vienna Plug-ins. The first time it crashed Logic and said "Cannot find plug-in Vienna Ense". Upon restarts, no longer gives me that error, all Vienna plug-ins validated in Logic Plug-In Manager. Still not connecting.

Found previous thread on this forum that recommending trashing VE Pro preferences. Did that - still not connecting.

    Any help?

UPDATE: I tried rolling back to VE Pro 5 on Master and one slave - no connection. I tried rolling back to Logic 10.2.4 - no connection. Very strange, since 10.2.4 worked flawlessly. Is it possible that moving from Yosemite to El Capitan changed some settings?

  • I have the same problem here, just go for El Capitan ( because of last Logi update ) my slaves are not recognized, please help !

    Thannks in advance.

  • VSL customer support solved the problem. Updating to El Capitan must have changed my ethernet network settings. The solution was to go to System Preferences>Network, then on the Configure IPv4 drop down, choose Manually. My IP address stayed set on the static address I had under Yosemite, but the Subnet Mask had changed. I set it to 255.255.255.0 and hit Apply.

Then I checked each slave and made sure they had the same Subnet Mask setting. Everything instantly worked just as before. Big thanks to VSL customer support!

  • Hi thanks,

just trying, my static addres was 10.0.1.3 but  i've got error he need for 8 numbers, can you help more ?

    Thanks

  • Hi anton-

    Here are my network settings:

    Master computer: 10.0.0.9

    Slave #1: 10.0.0.2

    Slave #2: 10.0.0.4

    Slave #3: 10.0.0.5

For all computers, the Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0

If you continue to have connection problems, I would recommend emailing customer service at support@vsl.co.at

  • I don't know anything about routers. You should email support@vsl.co.at

Sorry I can't be of more help!

  • Try 255.255.255.0

    Use that on all computers.

(Honestly, I'm guessing here. Not a network expert)

  • Thank you, solved, my fault, too many 255 ;-)

    Thanks all, thanks Marnix.

    All the best.

    I have another WEIRD problem,
