  • BUG - Ensemble Pro 6/Kontakt GUI. Fix Required.

Several Kontakt libraries fail to load their GUI's correctly inside Ensemble Pro 6. A previous post mentioned CineSymphony Lite, but I can confirm it effects the entire line of CineSample's orchrestral libraries and Output Sounds: Signal, Exhale and Substance libraries.

The fact that it effects libraries from different manufactures means it is highly likely other libraries are effected, but these are the ones I own that I can confirm. I am sure its Vienna Ensemble Pro 6 that causes it, as loading it in the DAW and Kontakt standalone does not produce these graphical glitches. I recall having used these libraries in Version 5 without these issues making me more certain its exclusive to 6.

These graphical glitches render the libraries absolutely unusable. The problem is compounded by the fact that It seems to inflict newer libraries, making this a HUGE issue as Kontakt is a popular platform with more and more libraries being added as well as older libraries being updated with new GUI/Scripts.

Using latest version as of this post.

  • Hi Edward,

    Thanks for your mail!

That's an old bug in the Kontakt engine: Kontakt requires a connection to the sequencer to display the GUI correctly.

Simply connect your VE PRO instance and everything is fine!

  • Great, thank you for the prompt reply. Glad there is a work around.

I did a quick search using the tags I used but couldn't find anything. Hopefully this post is easier to find with the tags for others that may run into this issue.

  • What is a scenario when VE Pro would not be connected to a sequencer but still work in sync with your DAW's VE Pro plug-in?

And I feel a bit slow asking this, but what do you mean by "simply connecting your VE Pro instance"?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

There is no scenario where a VE PRO Server is not connected and still in sync.

Kontakt needs to be connected to a host (with some libraries), to display all GUIs the right way, 100%.

    Does that help?

  • Ah, I see. The original poster and I must've had different problems then. For me, the GUI was cluttered even while hosted in a VE Pro 6 instance connected to Cubase. For some reason I am not having that problem anymore, so I was confused as to what was causing this issue.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the explanation. Ok, that must have been something different then. Glad to see it is resolved!

  • My situation was that I would first load the instrument and tinker and play with it in VE Pro before connecting it to the DAW. When I ran into the problem I didn't think to connect it to the DAW, I tried re-adding it, starting a new VE Pro project, restarting my computer and even reinstalling VE Pro...it didn't dawn on me the fix was as simple as connecting to the DAW. Funny thing is that I thought I would just connect the broken libraries anyway and just work with it that way the best I could, had I done that I would have stumbled onto it, but I chose to post here first instead.

It sounds like whatever issue you were having was a real bug, since you say yours were connected. If they resolved themselves than that is great but still curious.

  • I am having the same issue with Ableton & VEPro 6.

If I open the instance within Ableton I can see Kontakt, but some NI instruments are missing the setting.

Is there any solution available for that?

    Regards,

    Georg

  • Hello Georg,

Which OS are you working on, which version of Kontakt, Ableton and VE PRO?

Please send a  LIVE Song to support@vsl.co.at, with a quick reference to this thread, and we will take it from there.
