Hello

Is it possible to have Key velocity and Velocity X-fade on the same preset but on different sounds?

For example, I would like to have key velocity on snare strikes and velocity X-fade on snare roll? Can I do this?

You can at least turn Velocity X Fade on and off via CC of your choice.

In the Edit tab of the respective cell you can set the Velocity XF to on, off and global for every loaded patch. Global means that the value corresponds to the general XF on/off status, to which Fabio referred. Independent from that you can set the XF option on a patch by patch basis as mentioned above.

If you're talking about different XF settings within one patch (like in the Special Edition's Drum patch), then it's not possible apart from globally switching XF on and off as Fabio pointed out.

If you don't want to think about CC controlling that global XF option, then you could work around it by creating a matrix with two cells, both holding the same patch, however in one, you turn the XF option in the Edit tab to off, in the other to on - the former being your "velocity controlled snare hit patch" and the latter being the "Vel XF controlled snare roll patch". Now, you use keyswitching to change between the two cells. This, however, is just a cosmetic thing, since turning on/off the global Vel XF involves the same number of steps as keyswitching.

Yes, you can do that by creating a matrix with 2 cells, you put the single hit on one cell and snare roll on another (either x or y direction), then you set the switch by velocity (set the velocity to 127 or lowest value, say 1 to trigger the snare roll cell, in that case, it's easier to edit).

On the globe control, activate the velocity xfade, and on the snare hit edit page, turn off the vel xfade.

This is how I do it, hope this help.

Thank you for deeper investigation, LuCsa.
Actually I'm a SE and VI Standard user; things may work differently in a Pro environment.
Then, I will check if othen than global status for Vel. X-Fade is available at cell/patch level in my setup.

I confirm that VI Std can do Vel. X-Fade on and off switching at cell level.
SE Snares are part of a single Percussion patch spread along the whole keyboard,
nonetheless it can be loaded twice to have hit and rolls X-Faded accordingly.
