  • VEP 6 skipping/stuttering upon opening after sleep

I'm running VE Pro 6 on a slave HP (Windows 10) with 8G RAM and 1 TB SSD connected via ethernet/lightning to my Mac running Logic Pro X 10.2.4. When I turn on my PC for the first time, VEP works fine. I load it in this order:

    1. VEP 32-bit server
    2. Server project
    3. Logic project

However, when I put the PC to sleep and wake it up, then follow the same order as before, it without fail skips and stutters, even if the samples are loaded completely. Logic is running smoothly and VEP loads fine, but it won't play back correctly and any MIDI input to my Mac is basically lost. This only happens after the slave has been in sleep mode.

Would this be an issue with the ethernet cord? Or is it because the computer was in sleep? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

  • Hi merely7003,

We never put our computers in sleep mode, because it can always cause troubles in either network connection or playback, just like you report...

Unfortunately I don't have a solution there, but maybe someone else has figured this out.

    Best,
    Paul

    Update:

VE Pro continues to stutter/skip after I turn both computers on for the first time each day, not just when I wake them up from sleep. I then have to restart both computers to get it to work properly.

  • Hi,

Are they waking up after sleep mode or do you start them from scratch? Does this also happen with Epic Orchestra and Vienna Instruments (comes with Vienna Ensemble PRO for free)?

    Best,
