  • Dimension strings in popular music

Hi, here is my latest production where I used Vienna DImension Strings. It is popular music and you can hear how this product can work in non classical environment.

  • Hi,

First, congratulations on a catchy track with creative rhythmic drive and pleasant vocals.  I appreciate your willingness to share the use of dimension strings in an application outside of the usual realm.  That said, on a forum like this, you're unlikely to get a lot of replies (from my own personal experience sharing music here) especially because it doesn't fully exploit the capabilities of the sound library. Your use of the strings leads to a "synth pad" sound, primarily owing to the voicing (the strings just feel like close position block chords) with no shaping, either dynamically, and/or with velocity cross fade.  In other words, they sound essentially unaltered in any way.  Obviously, in the context of this music, the strings aren't "the thing" but a little more time shaping the virtual instruments would actually enhance the overall esthetic of the track and not detract from it.

Just my two cents.  I'm not an expert in these matters, so take my opinion for what it's worth.

    All the best!

    Dave

  • Thanx for comment, strings are carefully threated with more than 20 articulations xfade expression volume, humanize. All of it. The harmony is close because of style of writing in this kind of music. It is not sounding like synth pad in any way and it is not meant to sound like this. But true is that it doesnt hold any important part like in classic orchestral writing. The beginning of piece consist of polyphonic writing just like real orchestral orchestration will be, without compromising anything.

  • I think it's a nice blend of many different styles, some Jazz, Pop, a little Latin, all rolled up in a blanket of Classical orchestration.  Not to mention an overall Lounge act atmosphere.

    Nice work.
