    This is a problem I'm having with Chamber Strings I specifically, I already contacted VSL support about it and double-checked that my download wasn't corrupted, and reinstalled to doubly make sure.

    On performance interval patches, the top dynamic layer doesn't loop at all (definitely true for standard legato, haven't checked the others yet). This doesn't happen for Chamber Strings II. Can anyone else confirm that this is happening to them? At this point I'm at least 90% sure it's a bug, since I don't think VSL would just loop one of the dynamic layers.

    I think this also happened when I used Best Service's demo service to check out the special edition version of the chamber strings, but I thought it was because of a poor connection or some other factor. Can anyone else give me their thoughts on this?'

    EDIT:

    Someone else brought it to my attention that the violins and violas do NOT have this problem. They also confirmed that they have the same issue - the basses and cellos are the sections having this problem.

    Yes I can confirm the non-looped upper layer of the legato articulation...

    History:

    Originally the Chamber Strings, the Solo Strings and the Orchestra Strings I+II did not contain any loops as I remember. VSL supplied this feature later on and obviously did not implement it on every layer. In 2002 when VSL started to sell libraries one of the main aim was to produce samples as close as possible to the real instruments (sound- and play- wise) = strings without looped long notes (also sustain etc.). Of course customers demand and want this feature nowadays even if it is not quit real with strings. The libraries have been updated.

    So you can call it a bug. I personally never had a problem to restart a note manually with strings. This is probably because I am a violinist and also because I growed up without looped notes...

    I did not checked out whether there are updates with the libraries or not...

    Well it's very annoyingly inconsistent to have only the bass and cello sections not looping the same as the violas and the violins. And AFAIK, it's their only string ensemble library that has this problem. I was told by VSL they don't have any plans to update this, probably because they're working on Synchron stuff.
