  • Loading times on some instances is very long comparing to others

    Hi!

I have been trying to figure out why some instances take significly more time to load up in VE PRO 6 that others.

Here is my template set-up... I work in Cubase 9 Pro on my master pc, have a huge template of about 800 midi tracks for articulations that feed of my slave server pc. On the Slave server i have ve pro 6 running with 40 instances (16 kontakt instruments in each).

When I turn the VE PRO on, and start loading the template, all instances load up fairly quick... about 10 seconds per instance... except 3 instances, 2 of them take about 10 minutes to load and one takes almost 20 minutes to load. Its always the same instances. I have tried batch resaving every kontakt instrument library I have in those instances but it didn't help. I also tried deleteing the libraries and reinstalling them but still no improvement.

I believe its because Kontakt does something weird... maybe it takes time because it cannot find the path to some library, I just cant pinpoint what exactly is causing it to take so long. If anyone has or had any simlar experience please share:) I appricate the replies in advance!

PS the libraries that are in the "3 instances that take too much time to load" are : CINESAMPLES CINEPERC PRO and CORE, HEAVYOCITY GRAVITY, WIDE BLUE SOUND ECLIPSE, 8DIO SYNPHONY, HYBRID TOOLS

    THANK YOU!

  • Anyone?:)

  • From personal experience, I try to balance instruments in the host and slave (VEPro) on the one machine.

I have not used the local network for any further slave instances and I would probably implement VST System Link in any case.

I did find that the buffer setting in VEPro as instanced by Cubase is best set at 2 (seems to be crashing less that way).

I think there is a limit on what localhost can handle MIDI wise so I'd be careful about that, particularly with drum plugins which I am as of now migrating back to the host.

As for Kontakt or any NI stuff, it's no longer in use on my machine unfortunately since I don't believe they have a VST 2.4 version that meets VST3 requirements so YMMV but saying that I don't have issues with any of ToonTrack stuff however there are MIDI and GUI components to the VST spec.

I have moved to split each Kontakt out to its own "instance".  I can tell you from experience that Cinesample libraries I have slow down just as you describe.  I have Cineperc and Cinewinds....they will probably be my last unfortunately from them because of this problem.
