  • Vienna SE - Solo Viola - dynamics sound problem

    Hi guys :)

    I have a problem!

It's about two weeks I became crazy trying to understand why the dynamics of the sound that I created by the midi editor, using the Velocity X-Fade (CC2) sounds different from how I did it .

Let me give you an example.

I would like to get a dynamic -ppp- and so with my pencil tool I create my line of dynamics starting from 0 to 20, but it sounds like it was -ff- immediately

I used Viola Solo patch - legato

Could you please help me understand what has happened?

    Thanks you

    Hi jensi

Checkout the Value of the Dynamic Range... >>>more about here.

Keep in mind that the viola can play from ppp to ff (volume). Once you may hear a change of the sound. It is because the Vienna Instrument uses Layer one from 1-88 (Midi Velocity) and from 89-127 Layer 2 which has a more forte sound. The same belongs to the use of the velocity-X-fade even if it is a smother cross between the two layers.

Further it could be that you recognize a sort of a phasing sound (sounds as an ensemble would do) while crossing those range between the two layers. Not very nice within a solo but not a real problem within a quartett section.
