    I have a few questions on the MIR Room Equalizer.  I "think" I RTFM, but I couldn't find the answers.

    1) Why are there two locations where I can select the Room Equalizer banks?  There is only one Room Equalizer right?

    2) I can change the lower one independently, however when I change the top one, it also changes the lower one.  Why?  

    3) How are these intended to be used together?

    4) Is it correct that these are only changing the "room EQ" and not the instrument EQ (other than through its reflections)?

    5) Will all the instruments inside MIR will be affected by the Room Equalizer setting?

    6) Any other tips or suggestions on how these might best be used?

    7) Are there any Bank presets created by VSL?

     

    Thanks, I could keep going but 7 seems like a lucky number.  Maybe I'll get some good answers?

    Hi Greg,

    The use of MIR Pro's RoomEQ is conceptually organized in a away a software engineer tends to think (using "lookup tables"), not so much in a way us sound guys would tend to think ("routing" and "inserts"), which makes it harder to grasp without more detailed explanation.

    The main section at the bottom of the Output Channel is used to activate, edit and organize the 32 (or actually 33) different RoomEQ settings you can choose from. 

    The pull-down in the Instrument Channel determines which of these settings will get used for the wet signal part of the selected instrument. As soon as you select a different instrument, the assigned RoomEQ will be diplayed in the Output Channel.

    In other words: You can't assign an EQ-setting by means of the RoomEQ section in the Output Channel. You do the edits there.

    For detailed organization of your project's RoomEQ please open the EQ's main editor window by clicking "E".

    You're right in your assumption that the settings of a Room EQ will only affect the wet signals of MIR Pro ponting to it. It's by no means a master EQ!

    There are highly detailed RoomEQ banks freely available for all MIR Pro Venues that offer the MIRx Mode.

    Dietz, thanks for the detailed information.  I'll study it carefully and hopefully it will help me to gain a better understanding on how to best utilize the Room EQ.

    btw, where may I find these RoomEQ banks that you refer to?  I have all the Roompacks as well as MIRx rooms but I've never seen these banks.  Where can I find them?

    You simply have to activate MIRx Mode in MIR Pro to see them. 😊
