  • Gigabit switch vs plugging in directly

Hey folks, here's a dumb question:  I'm using a MacPro master and a PC slave.  If there's only two computers in the equation is there any advantage to use a Gigabit switch rather than just plugging the PC directly into the Mac's ethernet port?  I had been using a switch for quite a while but ended up removing it when I was having some problems with a Eucon controller.  The Eucon's gone now, so I'm curious if putting it back is going to accomplish anything.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

The only advantage of a switch or router is that you can connect multiple computers.
