  • Routing 1 Instance into another VE-Pro6

    Hi folks,

How can I route the output of one VE-Pro6 instance into a Group of another VE Pro 6 Instance?

I want one VE-Pro instance to be the mixer only incl. the Mir Pro and a real bunch of Instances for different intrument groups and bands, e.g. some are VSL, others are EWQL or Kontakt (to keep them separated)

What I really really do not want is a Mir Pro instance in each and every VE Pro Instance.

It drives me nuts to do quick little adjustments in every single instance (errors included)

    Any ideas?

  • Hi Wizzards,

How about using MIR PRO as a plug-in, instead of within VE PRO?

    Best,

  • I am sorry, Paul. I should have given you some more details.

All instruments and the Mir Pro are nested on the slave computer.

I have one instance of VEP 6 incl. Mir Pro connected to Cubase 9 using the EventInput.. Overall 16x16 Midi-channels.

The instruments are grouped together as sections. The groups are assigned "inline" to the Mir Pro.

The Group outputs are sent back to Cubase. In Cubase itself a huge amount of plugins treat the phases of each group and also eliminate certain frq by phase-inversion.

After adding natural sounds like hit stands, dropped mutes, human noises (breath, caugh) and air, the result is a hyper realistic audio file that sounds similar to a live recording using a dekka tree.

Oh.... I am talking about concert band, which actually is a task almost none of the available libraries can handle.

(Because the asthetics of a concert band are totally different to a symphonic orchestra)

This setup worked fine with VEP 5 but causes timing problems all over the place with VEP 6.

I already contacted the support without any success. Marnix tried the best he could and also sugested to get rid of the EventInputs.

The main problem is that most of the process has to be done on the slave computer.
I already tried to run the Mir Pro on the master computer but in combination with all the other plugins and things italmost always ends up in an overkill.

Am I correct that the hidden message in your answer is that I cannot route another Instance into Instance one?

    Thank you anyway... :)

    Hi Wizzarts,

It is correct that you cannot route one instance into another instance.

What I suggested is to use MIR PRO as an INSERT plug-in in VE PRO (instead of the inline version), also quickly disccussed in this thread.

You can enable MIR PRO as a plug-in in VE PRO (it is disabled by default).

    Does that help?

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

I am sorry for the delay. It took a while to set things up the way you mentioned and I am still not finished yet.

Mir Pro as a plugin does indeed the job. I will have to check how to do the automation but that cannot be too hard.

But getting rid of the Event-Inputs is just one step to solve the tremendous problems I encounter since I upgraded to VE Pro 6.

One problem was the loss of timing which I (semi)-solved by shorten the drum-notes to a length of a 16th.

Another more annoying problem is that note-on and note-off commands are randomly not transferred to the slave computer.

VEP 5 AND LoopB30 via LAN work just fine. Marnix suggested via mail to eliminate the EventInputs and use multible instances to solve the problem.

Whether or not this will work can be said in a few days.

Anyway, thank you so much for your patience so far ;)
