  • A little VSL mockup for Shawshank Redemption fans

For anyone interested, I mocked up the first 20 secs or so of the cue "Suds on the Roof" from The Shawshank Redemption using the fantastic VSL performance legato violins [:)] . Nothing to heavy, I just thought the tone of the violins was pretty dead on with the original but my version is a tad bit faster then the original (sorry!).
I also used the orch. cube mv osus RS long bows to sustain out the end of the Performance legato notes at the end of the demo and I think they blended pretty well without phase issues.

The mp3 is all the way at the bottom of the page.

  • Thanks Damon. Nicely done! As my Complete Set is in transit, its nice to hear demos from users.

ANDY: "... I'd only ask three beers apiece for my co-workers, if that seems fair. I think a man working outdoors feels more like a man if he can have a bottle of suds. That's only my opinion."

  • Hey thanks for listening CS! [:D] Probably my favorite movie of all.

I think the really cool thing about VSL besides the great sounds is the ease of use with the performance tools. This only took me about 15 minutes to do including mixdown. No having to worry about moving notes to get the 'suction' out of the legato [[;)]] . Natural legato at your fingertips!

  • I also love this movie a lot.
Will we hear a longer part of it.

  • Yes Herb and thanks for listening [:)] ! I'm gonna try and tackle this sucker by ear. It gets a bit trickier as you might know especially picking the parts out by ear, but i'll give it a shot [[;)]] .

  • Very nice Damon. Everytime I hear a user's demo of this quality I wanna buy. Sounds like the tools allow for a quick production.

  • I don't see the MP3 in the list of selections. Has it been removed?
