  • Vienna Ensemble Pro and Cubase Pro 9 Surround Configuration

    A question that's troubling me...

Trying to set up a surround Cubase project with Vienna Ensemble Pro (with Mir Pro built in) connected to a server instance in Cubase. For some reason I cannot change the channel configuration on Vienna Ensemble Pro Server from "stereo", there doesn't appear to be any Ensemble Pro Server surround plugins either anymore like older versions?

My Cubase project has surround outputs and surround inputs, but I cannot change the configuration from stereo.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    1) Cubase Pro 9 has project with Main Bus as 5.1

    2) Insert New instrument "Vienna Ensemble PRO"

    3) No option to change channel configuration as stereo is only configuration offered.

  • Hi Del,

Did you insert VE PRO as a surround plug-in?

  • Yes...this option for surround plugin isn't coming up on my cubase instruments. I amin a surround 5.1 project with 5.1 output bus, and the selected vienna ensemble pro instrument is on a 5.1 channel.

Only Vienna Ensemble Pro and Vienna Ensemble Pro Event Input show up in my VST list (Using VE Pro 6)

I am inserting on a surround bus output channel. (5.1) Don't get it.

Am I meant to have Vienna Ensemble Pro Surround plugin? Wonder where that is...

  • There is no Vienna Ensemble Pro Surround plugin installed on my system :-/ Bizarre

  • Literally bizarre! I reinstalled and the surround plugin has appeared.

    Cheers Paul

  • OK now I have the surround plugin after a reinstall...It's still only giving me channel configuration stereo and no surround panner in VEPro/MirPRO just standard stereo even though I've selected 5.1 mics in Mir Pro. Am I doing something stupid here :/

  • I'm an idiot...the channel configuration is on the surround plugin server window.

Sorry to waste your time man. Wonder why the plugin didn't install before...

The Dimension Trumpets sound AMAZING in Surround in the Synchron Hall :D

  • Hi Derek,

Did you connect to a new instance from your VE PRO Surround Plug-in?

    Best,
    Paul

  • Yeah I have sorted it out. I didn't realise that on the Surround plugin server window you can change the channel config. Restarted the plugin and everything sounds great! Thanks.

  • Is the MIR room tone in surround, by the way, or just stereo?

    Hi Derek,

MIR PRO can deliver up to 7.1 surround output formats, it's all in the microphone setup.

Best to check the MIR PRO manual for details, that's quite a powerful feature with the virtual capsules there.

    Best,
    Paul
