  • I'm having to reconnect the instances every time I load the project

Random VSL Pro Instances disconnecting when you have instances of Kontakt inserted directly into Cubase (MAC) AND VSL Ensamble PRO running on PC. All my software (MAC OSX, Windows, Cubase, VSL Ensambe Pro and Kontakt) are the latest provided by the developers.

There's some weird interaction going on among Cubase, Kontakt and VE Pro.

I tested with Logic and everything is fine.

I tested on Studio One (VST) and everything is fine.

I also tested with the latest VE Pro 5 and the problem persists.

I tested inserting Kontakt instances in VE Pro my main computer also and running Ensamle Pro on the slave and NOT directly in Cubase and everything is fine.

I tested only with Play instances on the slave and as soon as I insert a Kontakt instance directly in to Cubase, save and open it again the problem persists.

I tested using VST 2 and the problem persists.

I unnistalled Kontakt from the slave and the problem persists.

So it's definitely a problem in my main computer. The interaction among Kontakt (5.6.8) - MAC, Cubase PRO 9 - MAC and VSL Ensemble PRO (any version) - PC is not right.

The network configs are as instructed by VSL.

  • I too have to reconnect all instances everytime I load a session in Pro tools 12.7. I preserve all the instances on my slave pcs, then when I reopen the session the instances are not connected. If I click the padlock icon on the VE plugins in pro tools then the name I saved the instance with appears.

Am I doing something fundamentally wrong after all these years? Why don't the servers just reconnect?

  • Hi j.whitehead,

We're doing our best to reproduce this behaviour here... no troubles we can see.

What is your setup, what are your network settings?

You can also send screenshots and projects with steps to reproduce to support@vsl.co.at

    Best,
    Paul

  • Paul,

At least in my case (and I'm assuming that in j.whitehead too), we configured the network the way VSL instructs.

When you run tests like I did in the video in your compuetrs, running MAC OSX, WINDOWS, Cubase, Konkakt and Ensamble PRO everything is connected after reopening the cubase project?

  • This happens to me ALL the time, in Logic Pro on a Mac Pro. All will be well for a few days and then bam, I start up and nothing is connected. When you have 125 instances like me (because of Logic limitations) that becomes a royal pain and at least half a day lost reconnecting each time. Vienna, what's the problem — please?

  • Hello Paul,

For Rapha, everything works fine on Logic. So this seems to be a different problem, as with Rapha, it's always "only"  a few of his connections randomly not connecting, and only with Cubase on Mac when connecting to Kontakt instances in VE PRO Server running on Windows computers.

Can you please describe what exactly happens on your system, and what your network settings are, and all computers?
Also, which OS's are you using, and which versions of software?

    Thanks,
    Paul

Thanks Paul, I'm dealing with this via support now and will post back here if/when the issue is solved. Cheers
