  • VE routing question

When used with default settings (= inserting some VI into VE pro, but same goes for VE not-pro) many of my channel meters exceed 0 db during playing those instruments fortissimo.

My understanding is that it's a bad thing when digital signals go beyond 0 db, clipping and all. Not that I've had some, but maybe it's there and I haven't noticed.

Anyway, in order to keep the signal down, I'm routing all my instrument channels into group channels where the fader is down some 6 db or so. On those the peak never exceeds 0 db. Nevertheless the single instrument channels keep flashing in my mixing view.

Can I ignore that, or do I have to keep the individual instrument channels down as well, despite routing them to a group channel? What's the right way of setting this up? Is it only the master bus that matters in the end or am I supposed to prevent all channels from exceeding 0 db?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi quioloy,

We use a 64-bit floating-point mixing bus. It cannot clip.
