  • Excerpts - Filmmusic and Classic

Hi Guys, this is a Multithread, where I post my projects. Recreation of Classical Pieces but also my own Works.

  • Funny. I also participated in the Lorne Balfe & Hans Zimmer competition. It was merely a few hours to closing time when I read about it, but I thought let's give it a try. But what I really wanted to say :) is this: Your orchestral colors are beautiful, Markus! What instruments, plugins, effects did you use? I look forward to listening to more of your music - kind of impressionistic and well balanced. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thank You Xander, Oh you also participated on Hans Zimmer Contest , where can I listen to your Work ?

Thank You for Kinds of Words, Iam focused on my own Sounds, but I also think its good Idea to recreate some classical Pieces, because this way you can see clearly which are good Doublings for Example. The haredest Piece i come about now is Beethoven 6. Symphony oh my goodness, challenging ;)

I got a uplifting Feeling as I started using MIRx Reverb, its a pure Joy to listen to a Instrument using those Extensions. Im using ofcourse some Vienna Suite Master EQ, but before I make the Sound in Mono on the Masterbus, This Way I hear which Elements are too prominent, which sounds are overlapping.

Im using now Appasionata Strings I, Dimension Strings I, Chamber Strings all in standard, i really need to upgrade soon. I see now its not enough to use fortepiano and detache, there is something needed in between, dynamic patches crescendo and diminuendo 1 or 2 sec patches.

I use Woodinds and Brass as Full Single Instruments.

omg, mw, we're literally dimensions apart. 😊 I've only got Special Edition Complete, but most times I go with the normal orchestral strings. It's always the strings where I have the feeling that something's missing. I'm pretty happy with the rest, except for muted horns, those I miss - I had them in Opus1, but Opus1 is long gone...

Your advice to mix in mono is interesting - I've heard that a few times already, but I've never tried it. I definitely should do that! With MIR... well, I've yet to spark the flame, I guess.

As to the contest: it's been fun. I put my entry on my composer blog along with a few thoughts if you want to check it out. Don't expect a masterpiece. 😉 Thanks a lot for your insights!

  • You have very good Orchestration Skills for writing, I listen to your Entry for Genius Challenge, also the Faendalar. The Beginning of Faendalar sounds awesome, you use the MIR Pro ?

I first purchased One Instrument after another, but now Im Purchasing because I need the Articulation to go further, wow thats feels enormous. That feels very different from the Idea to collect something.

This is One Technique I use now, I make wet MIRx Signal in Mono and the Mono Signal itself in a virtual Room Plugin, so i listen to a wet mono signal in a wet room setting from a Distance. Then I hear Things Im not hearing while mixing on Monitors or Headphones, because its from a Distance in a compressed Mono Setting.

  • Im using Auburn Panagement for this Use, here on my Demo for Intro Style 1. Making Mono and then listen from a Distance.

The Purpose here is to test short Articulations, Pizzicato on Stringsection, but also some interesting Sounds like Bassoon Thrills and Tuba Flatter, Vibraphone and some Woodblocks.

    Sunday Piece Update

  • since you asked: No, I don't use MIR. Only the products mentioned in my signature. But thanks for your kind words about Faendalar - I'm glad you like it!

btw: The variety in articulations definitely pays. I couldn't have told you what it was about your music that I found intriguing, but I guess it's that. Damnit, now I've got to get myself some new samples as well... :)

By request on Social Media I made Couple of Inspiration Videos, how I start with a Piece, which is normally on a basic String Chord, preferable using Appasionata Strings. I show in this Video How I make a Basic Movement with the Use of the Chords for Harp, a Soprano Voice, Deep Brass. In the second Video I make the Harp Melodies more dynamic.

Christmas Piece changed Tempo from 101Bpm to 120 Bpm, the Mixing seems to be very challenging here.

Appassionata Strings are my favorite for Chords, while the Dimension Strings play the finer Melodies.

    VSL Appassionata Strings Piece

A Short Piece for Woodwinds - Testing Articulations using Keyswitches and a Speed Controller. For Instance when the Staccato Articulation is triggered, depending on the Playing Speed, the Staccato Articulation changes to a shorter Staccato Articulation automatic. I now testing a third Option of Articulation Changing in Combination with the described Techniques. A Slot X Fade Controller, this means the whole Articulation can be morphed into another Articulation while playing a Note, so the Legato could start with a fortepiano and turns into a Legato.

    Articulation Test on Woodwinds

This describes a Composition Technique, called Question and Answer, where the first Part of the Melody introduces a Question while the second Part of the Melody will give the Answer. From my latest Filmmusic, which is also in Progress now.
