  • Preserved versus UNpreserved

Hey guys, I've read SO much about it, but am still unclear on the differences between preserved and unpreserved.

I have a VE instance that I use in mixing, (with Protools HD) so no samples loaded (other than some triggers)

What's the advantage of one over the other? Downsides?

Would love some clarification on this...

  • Hi,

If an instance is preserved, all samples that are loaded will stay available, when you disconnect from your sequencer (close the song or the sequencer), and the preserved instance will be available to connect to when you open another song.

If you are not using VE PRO to load sample, but rather for mixing, then your instance with your routing and FX will stay available, when preserved (might also save you a little time, depending on the size and complexity of your instance).

    Best,
    Paul

Thanks Paul, any DSP (CPU) benefits?

  • Hi,

No CPU benefits from "preserved", just convenience!
