  • VSL's own scoring software

I was just thinking, will VSL ever make something comparable to Finale, Cubase, Kontakt, etc? I believe it would be great.

  • Many user have ask for it !

At least at some basic level , and I would be sooo happy 😇 !

  • If VSL could make something with the same capabilities as Finale, Sibelius, and Cubase I would buy it in a heartbeat.

  • Since there is already a good choice of DAWs and (to a lesser extent) notation programs, I would prefer VSL continues to focus on what they do best - sound libraries. Integrating them with the existing software is all I could ask them.

  • VSL has stated categorically that they have no plans to create notaion or DAW software.

    I agree.

The problem with creating a DAW/Notation software product is that everybody has different set ups with different workflows, not to mention the market is already pretty saturated as Paolo has pointed out.

Years ago, when this idea was first presented, it seemed like a logical path forward for VSL.  Unfortunately you have, on one side, the purists who want everything to center around the notation aspect despite the limitations. And on the other side you have the DAWists who have no need for the notation and care more about the sound coming out of their monitors (;lugins, reverb, effects, etc.)

There may never be a happy ballance between the two and I don't think VSL wants to touch that debate with a ten foot pole and I don't blame them.

Then again if there's one constant about VSL it is that they constantly surprise us.
