  • Old dongle after update on OS X

    Hello friends,

when i upgraded to Sierra from Yosemite on my mid 2010 MacPro last year the dongle wit my VSL licences was not accepted or recognized anymore. My Inateck USB 3.0 Card was not there anymore too.  I was stupid enough not to remove the USB-cables during the upgrade. After that i reinstalled El Capitan.

Is it possible that the dongle is too old to be recognized under Sierra?

    Thanks fpr helping me

    Alfred

  • In its web page devoted to the eLicenser, Steinberg states that USB 2.0 ports are supported better than 3.0. My Mac mini 2011 has 2.0 ports, yet upgrading to Sierra has caused a long series of compatibility issues with a Vienna Key purchasen at the beginning of this year. Please, keep us informed on your progresses in solving your issues. Paolo

  • Thank you, Paolo. Now i am a bit afraid to upgrade because the srvice-function on the e-licencer does not work well even now with Yosemite. All strange.

  • where did you plug your dongle ?

  • I plugged it to different ports on the MacPro directly. But I am not sure if i tried all of them. Di you think it depends which port i chose?

  • Hi,

It is often a question of power-supply with the USB ports. Make sure you tried all available ports, ideally on different computers

If you think that your dongle is not working well anymore, it's definitely time for a new key.

Moving licenses between eLicenser USB keys is simple:
    1) Connect both keys to your computer
    2) Open the eLicenser Control Center
    3) Drag the license(s) from one key to the other key.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Thank you Paul,

I will do as the master says. Maybe first move m licences from the two dofferent keys i have to a new key and then update to Sierra.
