  • VE PRO - load/unload an Instance RAM in one go?

    Hi All,
I want to know how I can load/unload all Instruments (RAM) loaded into a single VE PRO Instance in one go. Is there a global feature such as load/unload a VE PRO Instance RAM?
I know how to multi select the Instruments in the Instance and ON/OFF the power buttons simultaneously but it is an alternative. I need a global Instance option for that?

  • Hi trenda,

There is no global option to unload the whole instance. I'll add that to our wish-list.

This can be quite tricky with the huge templates everybody is building these days.

  • Hey, maybe I am doing something wrong, but please tell me how should I behave here.

I use big orchestral templates and for every track I have a scriptor.

Unfortunatelly files (even after cleaning) are about 2GB long, or the smallest something like 600MB even when a project is empty. I work on a Mac but my Windows machine is 128GB RAM.

    1. Why does this happen,  that those logic project files are  so big?

    2. When I open my template all instances are connected. I use many monotimbral instances with scripts for articulation mapping in Logic

3.Maybe I should disconnect most instances from my template (an  keep connected logic-VEP) for those instruments that I want to use only? And then what should I do to save  my project content with a VEP?

I am again confused about preserved etc although I red it many times.

    4. I wuuld like to mention that it takes me about 5 minutes to load the template project in Logic.

    5. There is no one button to unconnect all instances? I there?

  • Hi Adia,

I assume your Logic file gets so big because you have a lot of backup files stored with the song.

If you are working with one template, you could look into the DECOUPLE Mode described in the VE PRO Manual (page 57), for faster connection times.

  • I will have a look and try.

Paul I am not sure about one thing, OK let us say I press Decouple ALL that has been signed with a red arrow on the page 57.

1.When I click it once will it decouple all instances?

    2. I do not understand the idea, let us say I load a VEP project manually (because I use decouple) and then I load my template project in Logic. While workin with it let us say I want to change reverb settings for one of my VEP instruements working on the VEP computer. Then I save a logic project. As it is decoupled I guess when I load a VEP project manually again and open the same project I will LOOSE reberb changes that I made at my project?

    How to do it properely?

    3. When I finish my project and forget about it shall I just deactivate Decouple and save the project?

  • Hello Adia,

    1) Yes. Not sure what keeps you from trying ;-)

    2) I'd always uncouple all instances and save the project, additionally, I save the Server Project.

As an alternative, I'd only uncouple the instances where I made changes and save those with the song.

    3) Yes, this way you are always safe.

Give it a try with simple examples and find out how this works best for you. For many users, their Orchestral Templates stay the same, and only a few instances with additional instruments are changed.

Maybe someone wants to share their approach here as well?

  • I am almost there, but I am not sure (reading a manual and trying) what should I unpreserve instances for?
