  • A few more challenges with VE and Sibelius

The articulation behavior in my setup suddenly changed:πŸ˜•

    • A bassoon phrase plays staccato when slurred, legato when unslurred (or slur-playback is turned off in inspector)
    • A phrase copied from bassoon to bass clarinet plays back as bassoon. I have tried all the tips from "optimizing Sibelius..." manual, have double-checked the playback configuration, deleted and rewrote the phrase, reset the sound ID with ord. techn. text... nothing helps. It plays half of the phrase as B.clar and the rest as bassoon!
    • Wwinds (2 flutes-2 clar.): sustained notes get cut-off for 1/2 bar - at the same place the strings have a hairpin and glissando. It seems that it affects the behavior of the wwinds. All play mostly half and whole notes at a moderate tempo and it just strings+fl+cl at the afore mentioned place

Any help will be greatly appreciated

  • Hello Stavrinski!

Such a problem can have different reasons. Most likely it comes from an error somewhere in your setup. If you can't find the reason for the problem in the Troubleshooting chapter of the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual, you can send your Sibelius project and your Sibelius playback configuration (xml file and files in the data folder) to support@vsl.co.at and I will take a look at your files.

Sibelius playback configurations can be found in one of the following folders:

    Windows:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Avid\Sibelius\Playback Configurations

    Mac:
    Users/your username/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius/Playback Configurations
Under Mac OS X the Users/your username/Library folder is hidden by default. To get access, go to the folder Users/your username. Then choose Go/Go to folder and enter β€œLibrary”.

    Best regards,
    Andi
