    My internal SSD (in an external enclosure) seems to be dead. Computer reads it, but no contents, and disk utiltiy can't even verify it. It causes the machine to behave really badly. 

    Assuming it is toast, I guess I need to get a new one, and then... re-download all my software? 

    Is there by any chance a quick way of doing this with VSL? Or do I have to enter each download key, one at a time? 

    I always deleted the install files after I installed - I guess maybe that wasn't so smart? 

    And, while we're on the topic - any recommendations for a reliable SSD? I was using a cheap MyDigital 960GB, and it lasted me a little over a year.

    If it's in an external enclosure are you sure its not just the data connection?

    Yep.  Go into your MyVSL and redownload everything then install it all.  I think you have to have your Vienna key plugged in for the reinstall but I could be wrong on that.  Try doing multiple downloads at once???  Don't know if that will work but...

    In the future, copy everything to a backup external hard drive and if this happens again, or you get a new system, then just copy and reinstall from the back up.

    I hear Samsung actually make a pretty decent SSD but that might be just for gamers.

    Yes - I've tried multiple enclosures and cables. Initially I thought my Inatek enclosure or cable was failing, so I upgraded to a Plugable, different enclosure, different cable. Same result (I've tried both since the trouble started). 

    Hoping that my warranty on the SSD will cover me - we'll see! Just downloading the few libs I need to hold me over, and I'll run them off my backup drive I guess...
